Dave Zurawski & Jasen Schine
Custom Jigs & Spins is proud to sponsor two top ice anglers in the Trapattack Circuit: Dave Zurawski, 29 and Jasen Schine, 28. These two guys were born with fishin rods in their hands!
Dave grew up in the Northwest Suburbs of Illinois icefishing ponds and traveling to fish The Fox Chain of Lakes in Northern Illinois any chance he could. Jason on the other hand, grew up with The Fox Chain of Lakes in his backyard. When he wasn't in school or duck hunting, he was out on Pistakee Lake or one of the other lakes fishing from sun up to sun down!
The two met while competing against each other in the Chain Walleye Series (a local fishing tournament circuit that has produced top PWT anglers like Mike Gofron, Ted Takasaki and Bill Vojak). With a respect for one another's dedication to winning, they decided to team up to fish the Ice Team Trapattack Tournaments. Their first tournament of 2002 on Channel Lake produced 1st place. Also in 2002, they finished an impressive 2nd in the 2002 Ice Team US Nationals Ice Fishing Championship. In 2003, they placed 3rd in tournament on Channel Lake.
Their favorite lakes to pound on the panfish are Channel, Pistakee and Fox (all on the Fox Chain of Lakes in Northern Illinois). For walleye, they agree that Lake Marie is hard to beat, but Channel, Bluff and Petite all produce well at times. These two have a rare fishing style They hardly ever set up a shanty or sit on a bucket. They choose to bounce from hole to hole using 48 to 52 inch rods equipped with spring bobbers hand made by M Custom Rods. Their favorite jigs for crappie would be Custom Jigs & Spins Ratfinkee or the Ratso. Also producing well are the Custom Jigs & Spins 2-Spot or the Poppee tipped with a Wedgee. For Bluegills it's hard to beat a Shrimpo, but there are days when the Demon or the 2-Spot works best!
If you happen to run into these two guys out on the ice, walk up and say hi. Ask them what the hot color is. If you have the kids along, they'll probably get a handful of jigs and a quick lesson on how to catch a fish or two."
